To Clear the Balances from your Trial Balance

1.   From your Trial Balance report, make a note of the values of your Debtors and Creditors Control Accounts, your Sales Tax and Purchase Tax Control Accounts, and your Suspense Account, and whether each one is a debit or a credit.

For example, your Trial Balance may look like this:

N/C

Debtors Control Account

34515.00

2100

2.   Choose the Nominal Ledger option from the Sage Line 50 toolbar.

The Nominal Ledger window appears.

3.   Choose the Journals option from the Nominal Ledger window.

The Nominal Ledger Journal Entry window appears.

Using this window, you will need to post a journal entry to clear the balances in your Trial Balance.

For example, you would need to make the following journal entry to clear the balances in the example above.

5.   To process your journal, click Save. You can only save your journal entry when the value in the Balance box is zero.

To clear these entries and start again, click Discard.
